Scott Q. Hartwig

Vice President, Mission Operations

Scott Q. Hartwig is the vice president of Mission Operations at United Space Alliance (USA).

Hartwig is responsible for USA's real-time support to the NASA Mission Operations Directorate (MOD) and Flight Crew Operations Directorate (FCOD) at the Johnson Space Center (JSC) and serves as program manager for the Integrated Mission Operations Contract (IMOC). He also oversees USA's work on the Facilities Development & Operations Contract and the EVA Space Operations Contract.

After serving in both the U.S. Air Force and Navy, Hartwig joined the U.S. Space Program at Rockwell International's Space Systems Division in Downey, California, in 1984. He was reassigned to the Rockwell Space Operations in Houston in 1986 to help staff the Space Transportation Systems Operations Contract, where he developed orbital design products, and then moved to Flight Design Management and Integration group. In 1996, he was assigned to the Space Flight Operations Contract (SFOC) proposal effort, and was responsible for the development and execution of the SFOC Transition Plan for Flight Operations. Hartwig was selected in 1997 as the director of Space Flight Training and Facility Operations, where he was responsible for flight controller and astronaut training until his selection as deputy Associate Program Manager (APM) for Flight Operations in 2002 and as APM in 2009.

Hartwig earned a bachelor's degree in aeronautical industrial technology from the College of Engineering at Arizona State University in 1982. He completed Lean Six Sigma (L6S) black belt training.
